Scottish Pet Photographer of the Year 2010 (MPA Scotland) Award

Saturday, June 19th, 2010

Just a short note to say that I was delighted to be awarded the Scottish Master Pet Photographer of the Year Award for a third year in succession.  I’m hoping to really give the galleries a make-over soon to showcase some of the new award winning images that have been captured over the last 12 months or so.  Thank you for all your kind comments received through the website and in person.

German Short-haird Pointers Collect Gold Award – SWPP “Pets”

Friday, December 4th, 2009

A further Gold Award was today awarded to me by the SWPP in recognition of one of my favourite images shot ths year involving three German Short-haired Pointers and a Jack Russel Terrier dog in pursuit of a moving ball.  The image is the first image on Gallery 2.  What a great day that was in the middle of nowhere, yes I really didn’t have a clue on the location but thankfully the owner knew of our whereabouts and was able to guide us back to the car after the session.

Fellowship Distinction Award Qualification

Friday, August 21st, 2009

It still seems bizarre to have gained my Fellowship Qualification, the highest attainable photography qualification from the Master Photographers Association.  I had initially put an application in for an Associate Qualification, which it passed, though the judges deemed my panel of 20 prints to be at the Fellowship standard and therefore upgraded my panel to that of Fellowship.  I was also unaware, yet told at the time that there are currently only 2 other photographers in Scotland that have attained their Fellowship qualification. I’m naturally thrilled and delighted and hope to share some of these images on the galleries once they are next updated.  Thanks to all the kind words and comments received since this news was given out, especially from my photographer friends within the industry.

Scottish Master Photographer of the Year Award 2009 !

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

It still feels surreal that I have just been awarded Scotland’s top photography award at the Master Photographers Association’s annual awards night held just outside Edinburgh, i.e. the “Scottish Master Photographer of the Year.”  This was accompanied for the second year running by the Overall Winner’s title in the “Animal and Pets” category along with 6 other Category Titles including the “Monochrome” and “Open Award” categories.  The awards were judged by top photographers, Bella West and Simon John, both Fellows of this professional photography organisation.  To say I’m delighted is an understatement. The image below of a Hungarian Vizla named “Hugo” represents just one of these award winning images. Pet Photography Award
