Facebook Presence – Paws Pet Photography

I have finally managed to add some details to our Facebook Page, so thank you all who became fans of Paws Pet Photography.  Together with this blog, we’ll certainly be adding more content and pet images and the encounters that are all part of the amazing experiences that the dogs, cats and other fur creatures that we so often label as “pets” bring to each session.  We also intend to use Facebook to list and give notification of the event and seminars around the country.

If you also wish to become a fan of Paws Pet Photography on Facebook our profile is listed at www.facebook.com/PawsPetPhotography

I’ll be heading to London shortly to take on some capital dogs!

Cross Saint Bernard and German Shephered Dog – What do you get?

A dog named Diesel of course.  I retrived my Schnauzer from the kennels today and couldnt resist taking a picture of the owners dog, Diesel.  He’s an incredible dog with a great temperament!

Happy New Year 2010 !

Thanks to all of our customers in 2009 for making this last year extra special.  We have many treats in store for 2010 including the commencement of a brand new book title that is still under development.  I’m sure many of the pet characters from last year and indeed this coming year will feature in this forthcoming book.  Thanks to all of those people that attended our courses in 2009, we hope you all now have as much fun in creating original pet images as we do and we look forward to the courses being held next year both in Ayrshire and Italy.  Best regards,  Paul Walker

F2 Freelance Photographer Article – Pet Photography

This morning was spent being interviewed by a journalist from F2 Freelance Photographer for a feature on pet photography scheduled for next February.   The interview was combined with hearing the doorbell ring several times with Christmas deliveries (not for me!).  That reminds me, I have 1.5 days left to find my dog a unique Christmas present!

Happy Christmas from Paws Pet Photography

Finally the snow arrived, just in time for Christmas along with two Hungarian Vizsla’s, “Sam & Ruby” around 9 am this morning. The photo shoot was an early Christmas present and the snow and light that presented themselves were certainly favourable.  These two characters were certainly active and seemed to love playing in the Ayrshire snow.  Thank you to all of our customers throughout the UK, past and present and their pets for making this an extra special year. We have some great plans for 2010 that will be revealed in early January and we really look forward to some of the dogs, cats and horses that are already scheduled to be photographed in 2010.

Beagle Dog Power “Ollie & Bruce”

Beagle dogs

Beagle dogs

It’s always good to see some Beagles here and there. I can remember a snoring Beagle from Harrogate many years ago that used to amuse me.  There is always extra caution with this breed of dog if photographed off the lead and it would certainly make the photography extremely difficult if the whole session was spent trying to keep up with the Beagles as they locked onto a scent.  Fortunately their owners knew these Beagle dogs well and most of the session was conducted off the lead.  Bruce and Ollie, I hope you get something nice for Christmas!

German Short-haird Pointers Collect Gold Award – SWPP “Pets”

A further Gold Award was today awarded to me by the SWPP in recognition of one of my favourite images shot ths year involving three German Short-haired Pointers and a Jack Russel Terrier dog in pursuit of a moving ball.  The image is the first image on Gallery 2.  What a great day that was in the middle of nowhere, yes I really didn’t have a clue on the location but thankfully the owner knew of our whereabouts and was able to guide us back to the car after the session.

Bengal Cat Photography, Kilmarnock

These three Bencal cats from Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, kept me amused for a good hour.  It was a constant game of hide and seek and then pounce on whichever cat moved within the targetted striking zone.  In the interests of my own hands and fingers, I left the antics and their play fighting to the trio!  I did wonder how the three of them were going to pose for the camera in between games.  Fortunately, the game plan devised worked and the three Bengals are shown below.

A Springer Spaniel dog named “Walker”

Imagine my confusion when a dog named with the same surname as me arrived for his photo session.  His name being “Walker”.  A fine figure of a dog, but everytime the owner commanded “Walker” to sit, I felt like being back at school again with my name being called out.  Walker was a rescue dog and real credit to the owners has developed into a great character.  I thoroughly enjoyed shooting him (not literally) and thought I’d share this picture on the blog.

Kathryn wins Hamster Go Go !

There I was with my two boys watching some nostalgic Knight Rider when Kathryn rushes through all excited to tell me she has won a hamster.  How am I going to photograph that I thought?  I was only half listening as Kit was being attacked by rockets much to the delight of my two boys.  The reality was that she had been called by Kate Walsh and Ian Wright directly from Five Live after winning a competition to win the latest must have childrens’s toy!  Our schnauzer wasn’t as impressed as the two boys on hearing the news, though we’ll need to watch her steps with any hamster in the house as her terrier tendencies mean she likes to chase objects!  Anyway, I hope not to be tempted to photograph any fake hamsters once this little animal arrives via Postman Pat.

Rocky Braves the Elements

It seems such a long time since the last post, where has the time gone.  I really hope to post some of the recent shoots and canine and feline stars that I have photographed of late!  Not forgetting Buffalo and Porsche, the Shetland Pony and horse respectively.  Today was spent with Chris from Coventry who is in Ayrshire for two days 1-1 training on the art of dog photography.  We were hit at one point in the day by storms and received a thorough soaking though did meet “Rocky” down the beach, on his routine walk.  He wasn’t too generous at sharing sticks though entertained me greatly in the pouring rain.  Thanks to Ian for allowing me to capture these two shots during the exercise.
